Waiting Upon Our Purpose

3 August 2022

Do we give the lies in our head more power over our life than the truth of God’s Word?

Moses also understood feelings of inadequacy. In the book of Exodus, God uses Moses to free the Israelites from Egyptian slavery and give them the Jewish laws they followed for centuries. Moses was one of the most important leaders in Israelite history, but when God called him to step into his purpose, Moses didn’t believe he was qualified for the job. Even when God promises to be with him, Moses insists he’s not good enough and asks God to send someone else.

Think about that, here Moses is talking to the all-powerful God who isn’t bound by time, knows everything there is to know, and still wants to use him, yet Moses wants to tell God “ummm no, I think you got the wrong person”.  God alone talking to him should be enough to give Moses confidence. Yet, how many times do we do the same thing?

Right now, you and I might be feeling unsure of our purpose or even incapable of doing what we feel led to do. But we can believe God’s Word that says we do have unique gifts and talents.  Maybe we can’t recognize our gifts because they seem insignificant in comparison to someone else’s, or maybe we take them for granted because they come so easily. The truth is, those things that come naturally to us are not things that everyone can do. What we have to offer is special, and we’re meant to play an important role in God’s plan.  We need to ask Him what that is and He will guide you and me into our purpose.

Jeremiah 29 : 11 is a verse that is often used for our financial prosperity, but in fact it does not say anything about finances. “For I know the thoughts (Plans) that I think (Have) towards you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.” God has a purpose already set out for us to accomplish our purpose here on earth. He wants us to live in peace without sinning, He wants us to have hope for a future that He has destined for us. We become so heavy laden with the things of the world that we cannot hear God’s voice. But never give up. Even though Moses doubted himself, God never doubted Moses. We give more power to the lies in our head that satan feeds us than feeding on the thoughts that God has for us.

Instead of stressing or obsessing about it, embrace the time in the waiting.  Maybe He wants to teach us something before He shows us His plans for us. So we need trust Jesus in our walk of faith so that His plan for us can come about in His time while He teaches us in the processes of our waiting.

God’s thoughts are not our thoughts and His ways are not our ways - they are higher than ours and if we will wait upon the Lord, He will renew our strength and we will be in His will according to His plan for our purpose in this life on earth.

PRAY: Father God through your son Jesus Christ we ask that you renew our minds to the purpose you have called us to and to keep our minds on You so that the peace of our future and the hope of our purpose will manifest in our lives through Your Son Jesus Christ. Amen
